NEW! United Lutheran Church Youth Group United is excited to announce the start of our youth group. This group is open to those youth 6th grade and older. We will be studding the Scary, Weird and Gross Stories of the Bible. This material comes from Group and is very entertaining to the kids! Special Upcoming Events...
September 12th will be an
exciting day for all of our members! It
is Rally Sunday, the kick off to the Sunday School season. During our worship service we will be installing the 6
teachers for 2011. We will also be
meeting Krista Zimmerman, council recommended Pastoral Candidate for United Lutheran Church.
Krista will be joining us for
worship which will be followed by a Pot luck luncheon in fellowship hall. Please bring your favorite dish to pass; or
try a new one from our ULC Cookbook!
Christian Ed will be providing the cake!
At this time everyone will be given an opportunity to visit with Krista and
the parents a chance to register their children for Sunday School before
departing at 1:00 to the Rock River to ride the Forest City Queen. There is a sign-up sheet for the ride in
fellowship hall, cost is $4 a person.
We are thankful for the joint efforts of Christian Ed and Council, this is
a great opportunity to get to know Krista before the Special Congregation
meeting on September 19th at which time the congregation will be given the
opportunity to vote on extending a Call to Krista Zimmerman.

ULC Soup Kitchen Outreach
Project Everyday too many people in the Rockford area
go without a single meal. On Saturday,
September 18, 2010 we are going to do a small part in helping those in need get a warm
meal for the day. In order to do this,
we are asking for your help.
We will be serving a pasta dinner with sides
and are asking for the following donations..
Can Corn, Spaghetti Sauce, Fruit
Cocktail, Disposable, Rectangular Compartment Plates, and Cookies for Dessert
Please sign up in the fellowship hall and
indicate which way you would like to help.
We are also looking for volunteers to come help cook, serve, &
clean-up. The soup kitchen is located at
the Jubilee Center ~ Emmanuel Episcopal Church ~ 412 North Church Street,
Rockford.
Please have all cookies to United Lutheran
Church NO LATER THAN Friday, September 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. If you are coming to the Jubilee Center to
help, we will start setting up and cooking at 10:00 a.m. We are usually done serving and cleaning up
by 1:30 p.m. If you can only be there
for a few hours, you are still welcome to come and help. If you have any questions please see Nettie
Brinker.
Serving 125+ people is hard
work, but after helping those in need you will feel so rewarded!
